1. LANDSCAPE
- Definition: It´s everything you see from your point of view.
- There are natural and man-made elements in a landscape.
1) NATURAL ELEMENTS:
1. Relief: mountains, plains or valleys.
2. Water: rivers, seas and lakes.
3. Vegetation: trees, bushes, flowers, grasses and so on.
2) MAN-MADE ELEMENTS:
1. Houses
2. Bridges
3. Roads
4. Train tracks
5. Windmills
2. CHANGES IN LANDSCAPES:
1. Landscapes can change by natural causes. For example:
earthquakes
floods
volcanic eruption
2. Landscapes can change by man-made causes. For example:
the building of roads
the building of tunnels
the building of bridges
3. MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE
1) Parts of a mountain: the summit, the slopes and the foot.
2) Mountain range: a group of mountains.
3) Mountain system: a group of mountain ranges.
4) Elements of a mountain landscape:
hillocks
hills
massif
4. FLAT LANDSCAPES
1)
Plain: Large areas of flat land.
2)
Fertile plain: Flat land near a river.
3)
Plateau: high flat land.
4)
Valley: flat land between 2 mountains.
5)
Gorge: low flat land.
